Sixty new cases of coronavirus confirmed on Kefalonia yesterday, nine on Ithaka.

Today's bank rate:
1 GBP = € 1.159
1 USD = € 0.8558

Based on Alpha Bank exchange rates, these are widely used by exchange agencies in Greece.
Other banks likely to offer a different rate which may be marginally higher or lower.
Banks and foreign exchange offices normally charge standard 2% commission.
You may get a better rate changing your holiday money in advance at e.g the
Post Office.
NB: some f-ex agencies advertise "No Commission".
Invariably, they deduct commission before they (don't) advertise the rate.
Foreign exchange offices are businesses, not charities.

Ten day weather forecast for Kefalonia:
This is an overall forecast, due to the mountainous terrain the weather can be very localised.

Two glasses of wine enough to hit daily sugar limit

Analysis of more than 30 bottles of wine has found two glasses could be enough to reach the recommended daily sugar limit for adults.

Research by Alcohol Health Alliance UK found some bottles had up to 59g of sugar - more than a glazed doughnut.

An independent laboratory analysed bottles of red, white, rosé, fruit and sparkling wine from popular UK brands.

None of the bottles featured nutritional information on labels as this is currently not required by law.

At a cost of 1,670,000 euro (plus VAT), eight new water tankers have been purchased by the Ionian Islands Region Council for the Ionian Islands Fire Service. No word as to how they'll be distributed across the islands.

Sky reveals inflation-busting price increases for TV and broadband

Millions of Sky TV and broadband customers in the UK will pay £43 a year more from April while Sky Mobile customers face the reintroduction of £2-a-day roaming charges in the rest of Europe, after the company announced a series of inflation-busting price increases.

Sky’s Essential broadband package will increase 10% to £27.50 a month from 1 April, while the Superfast service rises 9% to £30.50 a month.

The company, which has more than 12 million UK customers, said the average TV and broadband customer will pay an additional £3.60 a month from April and that the average price increase was below 5%. However, the price of some services is rising by as much as 14%.

The announcement came on the same day official figures showed inflation rose to a 30-year-high of 5.5% in January as prices continued to surge across the board.

Man injured in Sami earlier today when lightning struck an apartment block. Apparently he fell down the stairs when it struck. Not thought to be a serious injury.

Mains electricity supply went down in Lixouri for about forty five minutes late this afternoon.

Same thing happened here this evening half way through Corrie  :)
