Kef fire risk 19/06/23: Low

Today’s bank rates:
1 €UR = £0.8799 GBP
1 €UR = $1.1295 USD
£1 GBP = 1.1365 €UR
$1 USD = 0.8853 €UR

Based on Alpha Bank exchange rates, these are widely used by exchange agencies in Greece.
Other banks likely to offer a different rate which may be marginally higher or lower.
Banks and foreign exchange offices normally charge standard 2% commission.
You may get a better rate changing your holiday money in advance at e.g the
Post Office.
NB: some f-ex agencies advertise "No Commission".
Invariably, they deduct commission before they (don't) advertise the rate.
Foreign exchange offices are businesses, not charities.

Ten day weather forecast for Kefalonia:
This is an overall forecast, due to the mountainous terrain the weather can be very localised.

Murder Of Polish Woman In Kos Island Shocks Greece

The murder of a young woman from Poland on Kos island is the latest femicide that shocks Greece.

27-year-old Anastazja Rubinska, a Polish citizen who went missing on Monday, was found dead on Sunday, discovered by a volunteer who had joined the intensive search for the missing woman.

According to AMNA, her body was found naked and wrapped in a bedsheet, while the top part was additionally covered in a plastic bag.

Following the tragic end of the search for Rubinska, police are now focusing on solving the horrific crime, as the prime suspect, who was arrested on Saturday, has not confessed the murder.

The location where Anastasja was found murdered, under a tree and covered with leaves and branches, is about one kilometer away from the house of the 32-year-old Bangladeshi man who was arrested the previous day on suspicion of abduction.

Pupil who questioned classmate ‘identifying as a cat’ called ‘despicable’ by teacher
Parents complain after recording emerges of teacher calling students homophobic and suggesting they ‘go to a different school’

A Church of England school teacher told a pupil she was “despicable” after she refused to accept that her classmate identifies as a cat.

The 13-year-old girl and her friend were reprimanded by their teacher at Rye College, in East Sussex, on Friday at the end of a Year 8 class on “life education” in which they were told they can “be who you want to be and how you identify is up to you”.

The row, which has infuriated parents, was allegedly sparked by one of them asking a fellow pupil: “How can you identify as a cat when you’re a girl?”

Heard there's bollards being erected opposite the shops down the narrow road to Katelios seafront.

Tory aides invited to 'Jingle and Mingle' Covid party

Conservative activists filmed dancing at a Christmas party during Covid restrictions in 2020 were invited to "jingle and mingle", according to an invitation seen by the BBC.

Thirty people were invited to the 14 December event at Conservative party headquarters.

At the time London was under Tier-2 restrictions which banned indoor socialising.

The event was held on behalf of Shaun Bailey's unsuccessful Mayor of London campaign, and Mr Bailey has previously apologised for attending the event, which was thrown for party activists.

He was awarded a peerage in Mr Johnson's resignation honours list last week.

Housing Secretary Michael Gove apologised for the video, and told the BBC the footage was "terrible" and would leave people feeling "extremely angry".

Accident on the Argostoli - Airport road just before the a/p junction earlier today when a motorist left the road and 'parked' in a ditch. Driver uninjured, no explanation as to cause.

Video said to show theft occurring, not sure where in the video that is as it looks to me as though it's been 'doctored':

MPs vote overwhelmingly to approve damning Partygate report into Boris Johnson

MPs have voted overwhelmingly to approve a damning report that found Boris Johnson misled Parliament about lockdown parties, while Rishi Sunak did not turn up to take part.

Just seven MPs voted against the Privileges Committee’s findings, in a humiliating turn of events for the former prime minister.

Look like it was just six who voted 'No': votes.parliament.uk
