Google Chrome emergency update fixes 6th zero-day exploited in 2023
Google has fixed the sixth Chrome zero-day vulnerability this year in an emergency security update released today to counter ongoing exploitation in attacks.
The vulnerability is now addressed in the Stable Desktop channel, with patched versions rolling out globally to Windows users (119.0.6045.199/.200) and Mac and Linux users (119.0.6045.199).
Although the advisory says the security update may take days or weeks to reach the entire user base, it was available immediately when BleepingComputer checked for updates earlier today.
The web browser will check for new updates automatically and install them after the next launch for users who don't want to do it manually. https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/security/google-chrome-emergency-update-fixes-6th-zero-day-exploited-in-2023/

How the Elgin Marbles scream injustice for most Greeks
More than 200 years after they were torn from their country's most sacred landmark and shipped unceremoniously to the UK, the Elgin Marbles still scream injustice for the vast majority of Greeks.
Not that anyone around me would call them that: the Parthenon Sculptures being the name used time and again - in a rejection of the British claim of ownership of the ancient treasures perceived almost universally here to have been stolen by one Lord Elgin in a callous act of imperial theft.
In the bustle of central Athens there was the most predictable of consensus among those we spoke to, whether old or young. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-67562350

Adopt a magical Chios mastiha tree by the sea
Since ancient times, mastiha, exclusively found on the southern part of the Greek island of Chios, has been renowned for its medicinal and therapeutic values and as an exotic spice.
It is also often referred to as the oldest superfood in the world.
Chios mastiha is available in different forms, including crystal, powder, capsules, oil and gum.
Chios mastiha has been scientifically proven to have beneficial properties, including antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, wound healing and skin regeneration, digestive, and oral hygiene.
Chios mastiha is protected by the European Union and UNESCO as a unique product, and the precious ‘tears’ are harvested in a very specialised and labour-intensive process that has been passed down through the generations.
Through the project www.adoptchiostrees.gr people from around the globe are able to adopt a Chios mastiha tree for €60. https://greekcitytimes.com/2023/11/29/adopt-a-chios-mastiha-tree-greece/Looks like the price is now 80€, not 60€ as quoted.

You may get a better rate changing your holiday money in advance at e.g the Post Office. NB: some f-ex agencies advertise "No Commission". Invariably, they deduct commission before they (don't) advertise the rate. Foreign exchange offices are businesses, not charities. Man finds out ‘blisters from shoes’ are wolf spider eggs laid in his toe on cruise holiday
Colin Blake’s wife was not overly concerned when she saw her husband’s big toe red and swollen during their 35th wedding anniversary cruise.
After all, most holidaymakers suffer the sting of blisters from new sandals rubbing at the feet after a day of exploring.
So the unsuspecting couple were left horrified when their on-board doctor told them a Peruvian wolf spider had bitten Mr Blake and laid eggs inside his toe.
Spider’s eggs then poured out of Mr Blake’s toe as the doctor cut it open.
Mr Blake, who lives in Cramlington, Northumberland, believes he was bitten when he was eating dinner outdoors in Marseille.
But an arachnologist said wolf spiders are not capable of laying their eggs inside humans.
Dr Sara Goodacre from the University of Nottingham told the BBC: “I can’t possibly see how it could be true at all because I know about their biology." https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/wolf-spider-eggs-toe-blister-cruise-b2455013.html

12-Year Study Reveals How The Mediterranean Diet Might Affect Your Brain
Cognitive decline is less likely in those who follow a Mediterranean diet, according to a French study of 840 people aged 65 and over.
Dementia, such as Alzheimer’s disease and other neurodegenerative conditions, often starts with cognitive decline, which is a slow loss of mental abilities.
Research suggests that eating habits, especially the Mediterranean diet, may help protect against this loss. https://greekcitytimes.com/2023/11/29/12-year-study-reveals-how-the-mediterranean-diet-might-affect-your-brain/

Elgin Marbles row intensifies as Greece denies promising not to raise issue with Downing Street
Greek sources say they didn't give assurances about the Parthenon Sculptures and their PM was left "baffled, surprised and not a little bit annoyed" at an eleventh-hour cancellation of his meeting with Rishi Sunak. https://news.sky.com/story/elgin-marbles-row-intensifies-as-greece-denies-promising-not-to-raise-issue-with-downing-street-13017974
