Today’s bank rates:
1 €UR = £ 0.8848 GBP   £1 GBP = 1.1301 €UR
1 €UR = $ 1.1166 USD   $1 USD = 0.8975 €UR
1 €UR = $ 1.7062 AUD   $1 AUD = 0.5860 €UR

Based on National Bank of Greece exchange rates.
Other banks likely to offer rates which may be marginally higher or lower.
Banks and foreign exchange offices normally charge standard 2% commission.
You may get a better rate changing your holiday money in advance at e.g. the
Post Office.
NB: some f-ex agencies advertise "No Commission".
Invariably, they deduct commission before they (don't) advertise the rate.
Foreign exchange offices are businesses, not charities.

Post Office said last month it stands by most Horizon convictions
Letter shows Post Office told ministers it would oppose attempts to overturn 369 prosecutions

The Post Office has admitted writing to ministers saying it would stand by the prosecution of more than half of the post office operators targeted during the Horizon scandal as recently as last month.

Despite the outpouring of concern and anger after what has been described as Britain’s worst miscarriage of justice, the letter from the Post Office’s chief executive, Nick Read, showed it would oppose attempts to overturn the prosecutions in 369 cases.

The letter was quietly published by the Post Office as the government confirmed on Thursday it was pressing ahead with its legislation to automatically quash convictions linked to the scandal by July.

Government plans to bring in 40,000 workers from six countries

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis announced on Thursday that Greece is on the cusp of a migration agreement with India to bring in unskilled and skilled workers to the country to be employed in the agricultural, construction and tourism sectors.

The agreement is to be signed in March and will be tabled in Parliament for ratification soon after. The agreement will be two-tiered, involving unskilled workers and highly skilled labor.

The deal is only one part of a broader plan of the government that includes agreements with a total of six countries – Armenia, Georgia and Moldova in Europe, and India, the Philippines and Vietnam in Asia.

The ultimate goal is to attract some 40,000 people to meet the country’s worker needs.

Former Post Office boss stripped of her CBE

Former Post Office boss Paula Vennells has forfeited her CBE for “bringing the honours system into disrepute” following her handling of the Horizon crisis.

Ms Vennells was named on Friday in a list published on the Cabinet Office website as an individual whose honour had been revoked by the King.

Post Office investigated sub-postmaster sitting on its own board

The Post Office investigated a sub-postmaster who sits as a director on its own board, prompting a furious response from its chairman.

The Telegraph can disclose that a Post Office team led by its chief legal officer launched an inquiry into Elliot Jacobs, who was specially appointed a non-executive director to represent sub-postmasters in the wake of the Horizon scandal.

The investigation so upset Henry Staunton, the Post Office’s chairman, that he angrily confronted Ben Foat, the company’s group general counsel. Sources say it contributed to Mr Staunton’s sacking by Kemi Badenoch, raising further questions about why she got rid of him.

Friends of Mr Staunton accept he “raised his voice” at the meeting but deny claims of bullying raised by Ms Badenoch this week.

The Post Office confirmed on Friday that it had been investigating Mr Jacobs, an award-winning sub-postmaster, but that its inquiries had now concluded. It is understood no wrongdoing was found over an alleged discrepancy in the accounts of a few thousand pounds.
