A tourist from Birmingham was thrown in jail after an angry mob accused him of taking photos of young children on a packed Crete beach.John Anthony Lane, 51, was chased through sand dunes by locals on the holiday island after a mum accused him of taking a picture of her 10-year-old daughter.He was captured by locals who ran after him when he refused to hand over his camera at Potamos beach, near Malia, which was packed with British families enjoying the sunshine.They detained Lane until police arrived and took him into custody.He was held near Cretan capital Heraklion and later charged with taking indecent pictures of under-age children.
