A report... claiming that Muhammad was Britain’s most popular boy’s name is actually based on seriously faulty maths – and some pretty dubious methodology from its creators, BabyCentre.co.uk.

The report claimed that Muhammad had recently become Britain’s most popular boy’s name – based on the choices of site users on the popular baby advice website.

But an official report from the Office of National Statistics, released in August 2014, and taking in statistics from all around the country, shows that Britain’s most popular boy’s name is, in fact, Oliver.

If Oliver comes as some surprise, the most popular name for girls is... Amelia.

Today CERN and the business incubator Technopolis Thessaloniki Incubator S.A. announced the launch of a new Business Incubation Centre (BIC) for CERN technologies in Greece.

Even if the start-up companies do not use a CERN technology, but are active in an area where CERN has expertise, they can benefit from this expertise by collaborating with scientists who have faced similar challenges.

The new incubator in Thessaloniki provides an exciting opportunity to Greek start-up companies or researchers that want to pursue their innovative ideas.

This agreement underlines CERN's commitment to make new technologies stemming from basic research in particle physics available and constitutes yet another way to increase the return to the member states.

Drinking a glass of wine is the same as downing three shots of vodka

Enjoying a glass of wine after work does the same harm as drinking three shots of vodka, the head of Public Health England has warned as he said alcohol was becoming the "silent killer" of working age Britons.

Duncan Selbie said that deaths from liver disease of working age people have increased by 500 per cent since the 1970s because many arrive home, "pour a glass and have no idea how much they are drinking".

MPs say that people are safer enjoying an alcoholic drink in their local pub as measures are controlled rather than buying large quantities of wine at "rock bottom prices" in supermarkets and drinking in a "non-sociable atmosphere away from people's communities".

They also warn that drinking at home is problematic among the middle classes who have developed the habit of pouring a large glass of wine or two at the end of the day.

Government could build and sell new homes on public sector land

A government agency could plan, build and sell tens of thousands of homes on public sector land, under proposals being prepared by the Treasury chief secretary, Danny Alexander.

The homes would be sold at a profit to the private sector.

A pilot project is under way at Northstowe, a former RAF base in Cambridgeshire, with the capacity for 10,000 houses, which would make it the largest planned town since Milton Keynes.

Despite being a staple of school presentations and announcements of days past, the Clip Art image gallery has finally been killed by Microsoft, banishing the stock images to history and replacing them with Bing’s image search.

Microsoft recommends using Bing search, which is built in to Microsoft Office, instead. The built-in version has creative commons options switched on by default, meaning that the pictures can be dropped straight in even if they’re being used for commercial purposes.

Sorry to see MS clip art go but actually still running on my version, but agree it now looks very dated!  Will have to work out out to access Bing images from Word.  OpenClipArt is a good alternative - but I recommend you don't click on the sidebar link to MyClipNook - leads to some dodgy looking stuff.

If I remember, Windows (well, some versions, e.g. XP) come with a basic ClipArt collection but that can be added to via a link to the online stuff - I gather it's the online site that's got the chop. Looks like OpenClipArt is alive, well and being added to. (I couldn't find the sidebar / link - but I'll beware of it if I do!)
