Greek Hospital Patient Given Raki Instead of Contrast Agent

An elderly Greek on the island of Crete ended up in intensive care after one of his relatives that was accompanying him gave him a glass of raki, a strong alcoholic drink, instead of a contrast agent.

According to local paper Patris, the patient went to the Venizelos Hospital for a routine check on his digestive system.

As its customary in Crete, he brought a bottle of raki as a present to the hospital staff.

Apparently, the relative who was with him mistook the raki, which is transparent, with the contrast agent and despite his protests that the liquid was “too strong” and “tasted like raki”, he was forced to drink a “significant amount.”

The poor man ended up in an intensive care unit of the hospital.

Heard the Tzanata stadium football pitch is in the process of being resurfaced - with real turf, not artificial.

Ross Edgley: Man becomes first person to swim around entire 1,780-mile Great Britain coastline
Adventurer completes epic challenge in 157 days - during which his tongue began to disintegrate because of prolonged exposure to seawater

As well as battling strong currents and tides, the 33-year-old from Grantham in Lincolnshire also had to dodge jellyfish and storms as he slowly made his way around the coast.

He estimated that he had eaten about 500 bananas and consumed at least half a million calories to fuel his exertions. Each day he planned to eat the same number of calories found in five Christmas dinners.
