Today’s bank rates:
1 €UR = £ 0.8835 GBP   £1 GBP = 1.1318 €UR
1 €UR = $ 1.1201 USD   $1 USD = 0.8927 €UR
1 €UR = $ 1.7076 AUD   $1 AUD = 0.5856 €UR
1 €UR = R21.6269 ZAR   R1 ZAR = 0.0462 €UR

Based on Alpha Bank exchange rates, these are widely used by exchange agencies in Greece.
Other banks likely to offer a different rate which may be marginally higher or lower.
Banks and foreign exchange offices normally charge standard 2% commission.
You may get a better rate changing your holiday money in advance at e.g the
Post Office.
NB: some f-ex agencies advertise "No Commission".
Invariably, they deduct commission before they (don't) advertise the rate.
Foreign exchange offices are businesses, not charities.

Fujitsu: MPs seek details on public sector contracts with IT firm

The Treasury and HMRC are among 21 public sector organisations being asked by MPs to reveal details of any contracts handed to Fujitsu after the Post Office computer system scandal.

The Commons Treasury Committee says it wants to discover the extent to which taxpayers' money has been spent on contracts with the company since 2019.

That is when the High Court ruled prosecutions were wrongly brought based on Fujitsu's faulty Horizon IT system.

DPD customer service chatbot swears and calls company 'worst delivery firm'
Musician Ashley Beauchamp was faced with an unhelpful customer service AI chatbot when he started causing "chaos" and was able to get the bot to amusingly turn against the parcel delivery company.

DPD has disabled its artificial intelligence (AI) online chatbot after a customer was able to make the bot swear and write a poem criticising the parcel delivery company.

Dog with six legs has operation to remove extra limbs

Ariel, the six-legged dog found dumped in a supermarket car park, has had surgery to remove her extra limbs.

The 11-week-old spaniel hit the headlines after being abandoned outside a Pembrokeshire branch of B&M in September.

About £15,000 was raised by well-wishers all over the world, enabling her to have a life-changing operation.

Surgeons also managed to save all four of her "normal" limbs after fears one might have to be amputated as well.

Fujitsu used prosecutions of sub-postmasters as a ‘cash cow’
Tech company earned up to £20,000 a case for providing evidence in court, inquiry hears

Fujitsu used prosecutions as a “cash cow”, the Horizon IT scandal inquiry heard, with the company earning up to £20,000 a case for providing evidence to prosecute sub-postmasters.

Addressing Paul Patterson, the director of the Japanese firm’s Europe arm, barrister Flora Page, who represents Lee Castleton and several other sub-postmasters, asked: “The inquiry has heard evidence that providing ARQ data to the Post Office brought in £850,000 per annum, which is obviously small beer in the grand scheme of things but nevertheless, would you agree a reasonable handy bit of extra income?”

Ms Page then cited additional “charges for witnesses” who appear in court and cited one case where Fujitsu had charged £20,000 for a witness to attend court.

Transaction data was not reviewed before it was used in civil and legal matters, the inquiry heard.

Greece one of the worst countries in Europe for road safety – About 50 people die every month

The number of people who lose their lives or are seriously injured on the road is increasing. Greece is one of the four worst countries in Europe in terms of road safety, with 635 road traffic deaths per year. This means that every month, around 50 people lose their lives on the road – as if the train accident in Tempi is repeated on a monthly basis, that is.

There are five “killers” on the road: helmet, seat belt, speed, cell phone and alcohol

Greece currently ranks 24th among the 27 member countries of Europe in terms of road safety and the number of deaths per million inhabitants.
