‘How much without a receipt?’

The truth is that under the present circumstances, tax evasion is becoming increasingly tempting as a means of survival. The government, meanwhile, doesn’t get it and doesn’t care.

I don’t know if there is a solution. The primary surplus targets that have been set are outrageous, but our creditors don’t care. They are making the mistake of comparing the complaints here about high taxation with those they hear in their own countries. This is easy when you are looking at Greece from within an ivory tower and have no idea of the travails the average citizen is subjected to on a regular basis.

Bit of excitement for Kef, Levkas and Ithaki coast guard yesterday when a 30 y-o foreign national was rescued from a dinghy after the boat he was in sank off northwest Kef. After being taken to Fiskardo and confirmed to be in good health the lone sailor was arrested for theft of the vessel from Misolongi.

Apparently the bloke in the dinghy claimed the vessel which had sunk was the SIDDHARTHA but Greek coast guard discovered this was incorrect and alerted Italian coast guard who located the boat, under a different name, 18 nautical miles off the coast of Rocella, Italy.
