According to the new classification scheme, hotels will be ranked on a scale of 1 to 5 stars and/or keys. Each hotel is classified into one of five categories according to set standards and collects the minimum number of points required for classification. The hotels and rooms will be issued certification applicable for five years.Under the certification scheme, five-star hotels will have to pay a fee of five euros per room, apartment or suite, to the Hellenic Chamber of Hotels. Four-star hotels will be required to pay a four-euro fee, three-star hotels three euros while two-star hotels, one-star and rooms in key categories 2, 3 and 4 will pay two euros.
