I think anyone that books a holiday based on an artist's impression, is taking a big gamble!

Not gamblers. Roger.  Just abjectly stupid.

Family's five-star holiday hotel was still being BUILT when they arrived
Robert Orr and Jodie Bush arrived with their baby daughter at the Blue Lagoon Princess in Halkidiki, Greece, to find it looked like a building site

According to the article in the Mirror, guests were taken to the hotel and left hanging around after complaining to the rep on arrival. Thomson hadn't informed guests in advance even though it must've been pretty obvious to Thomson it wouldn't be anywhere near ready. £148 compensation was offered and Thomson say, "We would like to reassure customers that whilst it is rare to delay the opening of a hotel, we continually monitor all the hotels in our programme to ensure they meet our high standards."

Hardly unknown that new accoms aren't always ready on time, Tesoro Blu and Aligis spring quickly to mind. Considering that Thomas Cook have been judged to have breached a duty of care over the Corfu kiddies deaths Thomson really should be doing better than this, IMO.

Probably not a great idea to pay a lot of attention to 'artists impressions' of a new hotel.

Manchester set to become part of... Scotland

A campaign to make Manchester part of Scotland has gathered momentum after a surprising 72 per cent of respondents voted in favour of secession.

The results of an online poll conducted by the Manchester Evening News revealed that thousands of people want the city to be ruled from Edinburgh, rather than London.

The petition is titled: "Allow the north of England to secede from the UK and join Scotland."

It goes on to explain that deliberations in Westminster are becoming "increasingly irrelevant" to the north of England, and claims that those living in northern cities feel "far greater affinity with their Scottish counterparts", such as Glasgow and Edinburgh, than with the "ideologies of the London-centric south".

It also criticises the "endless parade of old Etonians lining the frontbenches of the House of Commons" - and calls for the north of England to join the newly independent Scotland and "regain control over its own destiny".

Apart from the unfortunate fact that Scotchland isn't independent:  If independence for them meant that Manchester, Liverpool and Newcastle went with  them I would be first at the polling station.  Do you think they might take Wolverhampton and Walsall as well?

Tax returns can be submitted electronically from today to 30 June. Probably that deadline will be extended.

Wind surfing available in Poros (wind permitting?), enquire at Andante Bar (opp police station). I assume it's licenced and legal.
