Tourism drops in Greece after 5 record years

Tourism traffic this summer in Greece is slightly slower than last year, according to surveys, air arrival data and hoteliers.

The main reasons for this pressure on Greek tourism are to be found in the economic slowdown seen in many countries from which Greece has traditionally drawn visitors, as well as the special case of Britain and its anticipated exit from the European Union – Britain is the second biggest market for Greek hotels. It should also be noted that this decline in 2019 is coming after five consecutive years of record figures in visitors and revenues for Greek tourism.

Sami coast guard officers performed an emergency rescue earlier today when a woman, believed Greek visitor, collapsed and fell into Sami harbour. Coast guard officers on the scene dived into the sea and managed to rescue the woman who was taken to Argostoli hospital in a state of shock but otherwise unharmed.

Apparently the female was an 82 y-o local, discovered 40 metres from the shore. Haven't heard any more.

Sellers beating Amazon’s security to post fake reviews online – Which?

Unscrupulous sellers are beating Amazon’s security systems with tactics such as bribery and hacking to post fake reviews for their products, consumer group Which? has claimed.

The watchdog said features designed to make the online giant’s website more user-friendly were being “abused on a grand scale” to mislead customers.

It scrutinised thousands of listings and reviewed almost 90 reports of fake reviews in recent weeks, including sellers offering buyers bribes of cash and gift vouchers in return for dishonestly boosting a review to five stars.
